The Various Types of Italy Visas
A Uniform Schengen Visa is required if you visit to Italy. The Uniform Schengen Visa (USV) allows people to travel to all 26 Schengen member nations. This USV, on the other hand, is divided into three categories:
The Airport Transit Visa is under Category A and does not allow entrance into the Schengen region.
The Transit Visa falls under Category B and allows you to enter more than one Schengen country for a maximum of 5 days.
Short-term visas (category C) include single-entry, double-entry, and multiple-entry visas.
Visa for Single Entry to Italy (Schengen)
This form of visa allows persons to visit Italy just once within the time period specified on the visa sticker that is placed to your passport. And if you leave the country, you will not be allowed to return, even if you have not spent the maximum number of days allowed by the embassy on your visa.
Visa for Multiple Entry into Italy (Schengen)
This multiple entry visa allows you to return to Italy after you have left. Furthermore, with this visa, you would be unable to return to the Schengen region after leaving it for the second time. Please make sure you do not remain longer than the number of days authorized in Italy.
Multiple-Entry Visa
This multiple entry visa allows you to enter and exit Italy as many times as you wish, as long as you do not exceed the 90/180 restriction. This 90/180 regulation specifies that a tourist has spent 90 days in total (consecutively or separately) in the Schengen zone within 6 months.
The three types of Multiple Entry Visa are as follows:
- A Multiple Entry Visa for One Year
- A Three-Year Multiple-Entry Visa
- A Multiple Entry Visa for 5 Years
Please keep in mind that you can leave and return as many times as you like with all three types of Multiple Entry Visas, but you must follow the 90/180 limit. However, you must present documentation to the embassy as to why you need to stay that long.
For Long-Term Visas
As the name implies, the Italy visa department provides these visa kinds to those who want to stay in the country for an extended length of time or permanently. Whatever your reason for needing to stay longer in Italy, whether for academic, employment, or health reasons, and if you want to stay for more than 90 days, you would have to apply for a resident permit.
